Overview
The most popular resort on the island and deservedly so, a holiday here can be as relaxed or as lively as you like. Set against a backdrop of hills, Puerto del Carmen is the largest and most established resort in Lanzarote and is a good base for families and couples to enjoy a superb beach holiday. There are literally hundreds of shops, stylish bars, and restaurants together with a good range of watersports for both the experienced and the beginner. The town is divided between an atmospheric 'old quarter' and a smart modern sector. The original fishing village still retains much of its charm and is home to some lively Irish bars as well as harbour-side restaurants serving delicious fish dishes.
