Dusseldorf
Affluent and vibrant, Düsseldorf is a medium sized city, capital of the NordRhein-Westfalia region of Germany. Trade fairs attract thousands upon thousands of visitors every year. Modern architecture - much of the city has been rebuilt over the past fifty years - is here combined with fine buildings from the past. First founded as a market place at the confluence of the rivers Rhine and Dussel the city grew in importance over hundreds of years, and has developed thriving musical and artistic traditions.
